Mourinho is not interested anymore with Nemanja Matic
Nemanja Matic, 28, is strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer along with Jose Mourinho’s plans to strengthen the Red Devils’ midfield ahead of next season.
Sport Express says Chelsea coach Antonio Conte has told Cesc Fabregas that he remains in his plans for next season, but Matic’s future at the club is not so clear.
And with Conte getting closer to getting US star Monaco, Tiemoue Bakayoko, it looks as if Matic looks destined to leave the club.
Mourinho had worked with the former Benfica midfielder at Chelsea and seems keen to reunite with his former player at Old Trafford.
The Portuguese coach has confirmed that the defensive midfielder is a priority area to be addressed and he wants Matic to be behind Paul Pogba, so he has the freedom to go further.
But The Sun says Mourinho is ready to give up in his pursuit of signing this Serbian player. It said The Special One would not wait until the Blues get an ideal replacement for Matic.
The Manchester United coach was frustrated at the lack of club transfer activity with Victor Lindelof being the only player they brought in the transfer market this summer.
He ideally wants to have his transfer activities completed before the pre-season starts on 8 July.
And he wants Chelsea to meet with him in the next 48 hours to explain whether they are willing to make a deal for Matic or not.
Matic has made 40 appearances in all competitions for the Blues last season and scored nine goals as he helped guide the club to the Premier League title. He has a contract until the summer of 2019.
